It's a typical day at my suburban high school. I am wearing a cobalt empire waist dress over a white tank with blue, yellow, navy and green madras print espadrilles (one of my lasts tributes to the lingering warm weather) and a silver heart necklace, and I get many compliments from people. This sort of baffles me, because I don't really think it's anything extraordinary. But the thing is, compared to what people (well, teens) are wearing these days, I guess I was dressed up.We live in an age of Hollicrombie couture. Tight, superlow-rise jeans, tight, fitted henleys and tees with logos printed across the chest, which come in a plethora of colors. That is stylish to young America. Typical conformist teen: Wears HCO, A&F, bright colored sneakers, UGGs, PINK sweats and Nike like there's no tomorrow.
Now, I'm not saying this is all teens, but walk into any suburban high school, and that is what most people are wearing. It's pretty much a given that you'll see the latest A&F tees and babydolls in EVERY color, plenty of those UGG(ly) boots, and sweatpants.
Which leads me to my other issue: sweatpants and pajama pants. Around the house, okay. If your sick and need to run to CVS for something, fine. But to SCHOOL? It just baffles me. Ugh.
Now I can go more in depth into this topic, but there's just so much to say, and I think we all catch my drift.
